Lush Green Paradise

The best part of Konkan region is that you can go anytime, you would find lush green anytime.
However it could be hot sometimes during Summer.
I decided to visit Chiplun which was quite close to Bombay and driving was also not too bad but we decided to visit by train.

I happen to hear about Dongarmatha Ecocare resort, which I thought I should explore. Since it was just an overnight trip, we reached by early morning to Chiplun. We took a Auto from Station to the ecoresort and it was few KMS away from the station.

The Dongarmatha Eco Resort is situated on a hill with a pretty steep slow.

The host welcomed us by driving from the road all the way till top of the resort.
The entire area was buzzing with bird activity; Small Minivets, Orange Minivets, Yellow-crowned Woodpeckers, White-bellied Drongos, Black-hooded Orioles and Black-naped Monarch Flycatchers.

As we arrived at the resort, Mangesh welcomed us with Kokam sharbat and also introduced us to the other guests at the resort. The resort has a very rustic feel and only makes you feel that much closer to the nature.
I was given a room which had a good view of the hills and the thick trees.

We later had our breakfast which was very tasty as it was typical south-indian poha which was very tasty.

Soon after we finished our breakfast, we started exploring the area nearby.
The weather was completely overcast since morning, but eventually there was plenty of Sun.
We started exploring the birds and later on we visited the local famous temple Parshuram Temple. It was couple of KMS walking from the resort so we slowly gradually started exploring the area and walking towards the temple.
The temple is worth a visit, the structure is old konkani style buildings near this. There are more 3-4 temples. Recommended to visit early morning or in the evening to avoid the heat and rush.

History is like this is the only Temple of Lord Parashuram in India. Parashuram who made settlement of Konkan was a Brahmin son of Jamadagni and Renuka. The Temple is well maintained by local management.

After which we came for lunch which was very tasty and had a very homely feel to it. A special mention of the Modaks (Sweet); which was super tasty!.

Post lunch we went to visit the Vashishti River, a view from the state highway side. The view from the road side was superb even though there was too much heat.

After which we had lots of time to visit the Boat ride along with that we also spotted several crocodiles. We did not visit Guhagar beach as we did not have much time and I see enough beach on Bombay :-)

In the evening we went for a trail on top of the hill where we could see the beautiful valley with the amazing Sunset and the river Vashishti.

In the evening we had some fun activities and the time just flew past. The dinner was nice and overall the day was very satisfying.

After a amazing sleep, we had to get up early as as we had a birding session planned. Before proceeding we enjoyed a hot cup of tea with a lovely view of the valley. We later started a jungle trail and It was a refreshing walk of around 1 hour right up to a small stream right into the jungle.

We did manage to see many birds during the nature trail, one of them was the Green Pigeons which I had never seen in my past.
We were later offered breakfast and enjoyed it by sitting next to the stream was another lovely experience.

Since it was just about time for our journey back home and our train time, we had to rush back to the resort, get ready.

We had asked the Auto Driver to reach at the gate so that he can drop us at the Station just before our train departure time.

Yet another superb weekend trip; the best part in this trip was that I was NOT driving.

If anyone is planning a trip, I would suggest a stay as per the plan which I followed, you will enjoy and have more fun. If you have any questions / need suggestion please reach out to me.
